SCARCE SEIBERLING LETTER Autographed Letter Signed, one page. HENRIETTA SEIBERLING to CLARENCE (Snyder). 5.75 x 7 inches, blue paper, blue ink. Fair condition: two large tears in letter but all handwritten words are there except two ( ) noted below. "Tuesday” Letterhead: John Frederick Seiberling / 714 North Portage (Park) / Akron , Ohio . “I hope you will forgive me for seeming so ungracious in answering your letter and and its nice invitation – It is a grand idea, having this affair & I appreciate your asking me. “I have been so horribly engrossed getting my family settled for the year – Dorothy back to college and Mary starting to teach in a school in Maryland & to keep John from dashing off to join the R.A.F. or Marines or something, so I got Annabelle to relay my acceptance to you. “I'll (try) to make it ‘short & sweet' if I say (a)nything – “Good luck to you & many thanks. Looking forward to Sunday “as ever Sincerely Henrietta ” Circa 1939-1941 = The reference to the R.A.F., (the British Royal Air Force) would indicate the early World War Two years. Henrietta introduced Dr. Bob to Bill, of course, and here she accepts a speaking invitation from Clarence Snyder, the Founder of Cleveland A.A. Seiberling letters are extremely scarce! |
